Recently my boss and I were discussing the Ashton Kutcher vs. CNN media battle: the race to 1million Twitter followers. As we rounded out our discussion, he asserted that the recent celebrity driven surge of new users will ruin the Twitter experience for it’s early adopters. We agreed that quality followers will become more difficult to filter, and bandwidth could become an issue. However, I disagree with his first prediction: that my Twitter experience might suffer due to the flood of newcomers wanting to try “my” technology. I believe that aside from an occasional trip to the fail whale spurred on by bandwidth issues, all of this hype will have ZERO impact on my Twitter experience.
